Urban Innovation Internship

We are looking for a talented intern who wants to join our start-up journey for 4-6 months in Amsterdam.

Fulltime, starting (end of) January / February 2023
Amsterdam

Free the city!

As our new super-powered intern in Amsterdam for Coding the Curbs.

We are a start-up in curbside management working on changing the way that city space is organized and used. Started in 2020 as a spin-out from Elemental Strategy and The Future Mobility Network, we have a footprint of projects in Rotterdam, Amersfoort, Utrecht, Groningen, Riga and Bucharest.

Our dream is to create a more liveable and safe city with technology that allows users to book and use the public space. For example: logistics use our platform to book a timeslot to deliver goods in an efficient way. We’re like Airbnb for (un)loading bays. And we are looking for people that would like to help us make this dream possible.

The timing is just right. Because we are developing our technology, rolling out our solution (Smart Zones) and building a team with ambitious innovators in the upcoming years. As our intern you will work in our core-team of 5 people on projects for (inter)national cities.

Are you looking for an inspiring internship at a start-up in the smart city domain? Yes?

We’re happy you found us.

What your work is about …

As a project intern you will work on a wide variety of tasks. Your main task during the week will be to support our team in the amazing projects we’re running with our partner cities. This can be at the first ideations and conversations, to location scouting and benchmarking, until implementation and operation of our Smart Zones.

During your internship you will collaborate closely with our stakeholders: city officials, local citizens, businesses, truck drivers and suppliers. Together with our team you will take care of preparing workshops, meetings and events.

Besides the project work, we also expect you to join in the other activities that are related to our hardware and software, communication around our projects or (business) innovation. For example: ideation around new features of our platform together with our developing team. Or preparing and executing a demonstration at our test site in Rotterdam. It will be a real start-up experience: working on diverse and challenging tasks!

What you will get out of it ...

  • Be part of a creative, entrepreneurial and inspiring team

  • Steep learning curve and responsibility from the moment you start

  • Inspiring office in Amsterdam and possibility to work in our partner’s office (FMN) on the Delft Campus

  • Part of the YES!Delft eco-system and all it’s perks (training, events, coaching, etc)

  • An internship compensation based on 40 hour work week

  • Social and sport activities with the team such as Padel

  • An unforgettable internship at our start-up

We are looking for ...

  • A one-of-a-kind person fluent in Dutch and English

  • Student at an academic (WO) or higher education programme (HBO)

  • An analytical thinker combined with an entrepreneurial mindset

  • Curious and independent mentality, confident to pick up a wide variety of tasks

  • Great communication and social skills for supporting workshops and co-creation sessions

  • Someone who enjoys working with innovation and is curious to dive into technology

  • Affinity with Smart Cities, Mobility and/or Logistics
